How these numbers were produced

Siddhanta and ayanamsa

Positions are computed by drik ganita — modern astronomical positions, not tabular approximations — with the Lahiri (Chitrapaksha) ayanamsa, which is the mainstream civil standard in India. Raman, KP and the Vakya tradition are not offered yet; when they are, they will be labelled as distinct traditions rather than presented as settings.

Sunrise

Sunrise is the moment the sun’s upper limb reaches the horizon at your city’s coordinates, with standard atmospheric refraction. The panchang day runs from that sunrise to the next, not from midnight to midnight, and the tithi named for a day is the one prevailing at sunrise. This is why the same date can carry different tithis in two cities, and why the city on this page matters as much as the date.

Timezone

Every time shown is the wall clock in the selected city, resolved through that city’s IANA zone with its actual daylight-saving rules for that date. Nothing is displayed in your browser’s zone. This page was computed for Hyderabad (Asia/Kolkata).

Month convention

The Andhra & Telangana preset uses amanta months. Adhika masa is flagged where it occurs; kshaya masa is handled but rare enough that any occurrence deserves a second look. The eleven axes →

What has not been checked

No regional preset has been signed off by a practitioner yet. That is a hard gate we have not cleared, and we would rather say so than let a plausible-looking calendar imply an authority it does not have. Festival observance rules in particular are where published almanacs most often disagree with each other, never mind with us.

The Hindi language pack carries panchanga vocabulary but no reviewed festival-name corpus, so festival names fall back to English in that language rather than being machine-translated.

Privacy

There is no account, no analytics on the panchang path, no advertising and no third-party script. Your region, city and display preferences are held in a cookie on your own device and are read only to render your pages. Location, if you offer it, is used once to find the nearest city and is not stored.

What we do keep is ordinary server logging for abuse prevention, and rate limits sized for a person reading a calendar rather than a crawler walking a year of dates.

What we do not claim

The arithmetic is careful and the conventions are stated. Neither of those makes a calendar authoritative for your family’s practice. Where a date matters — a marriage, a shraddha, a griha pravesh — confirm it with your purohit. This site is built to make that conversation better informed, not to replace it.
